In an effort to enhance healthcare education in Nigeria, the Iconic Open University Sokoto has recently engaged in strategic meetings with two key regulatory bodies, the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN) and the Health Records Officers Registration Board of Nigeria.
According to a statement by the institution, the collaboration underscores the universitys’ commitment to producing well-trained healthcare professionals who meet global standards.
It added that the university’s briefing session with the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria also aimed at enhancing the quality and effectiveness of its Bachelor of Nursing Sciences program.
The interactive meeting, led by council’s Registrar and Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Faruk Abubakar in Abuja, also created a avenue for the Iconic University’s Academic Team to clarify requirements and standards.
In a separate meeting, the academic team of Iconic Open University has engaged the Health Records Officers Registration Board of Nigeria management team in Abuja to fortify ties and ensure the university’s Batchelor’s Degree in Health Information Management program aligns with regulatory requirements.
Registrar and Chief Executive Officer of the Health Records Officers Registration Board of Nigeria, Alhaji Babagana Mustapha welcomed the collaboration, stating, they are enthusiastic about working with Iconic University to promote excellence in healthcare training.
A statement by Iconic University said, the visit facilitated open discussions on program accreditation, curriculum enhancement, and faculty capacity building.
The Director Academic Planning of the university Dr. Anas Sanusi who led the delegation in Abuja added that the strategic engagements demonstrate Iconic University’s dedication to Upholding high standards in healthcare education, fostering collaborative relationships with the regulatory bodies and producing competent professionals equipped to address healthcare challenges.
By aligning with the regulatory bodies, Iconic University assured proactive approach to ensures its graduates are well-prepared to make meaningful contributions to Nigeria’s healthcare landscape.
