The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), Office of the Accountant General’s chapter, has promised a robust empowerment programme for the youths in the profession to allow progression in their chosen career.

The new Chairman of the ICAN chapter, Mrs Rita O. Okolie, made the promise after the investiture of the new executive members of the chapter.

Mrs Okolie promised that her administration would prioritise capacity building for the members, as well as for the youth corps members serving with the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation (OAGF).

She said her tenure would celebrate diversity and promote equal opportunities for all, where every member felt valued, heard and was integral to the association’s collective success.

She further said, “We will create an environment where collaboration thrives and every voice contributes to our shared goals and together we shall embark on this journey of inclusiveness, growth and excellence.”

Earlier, the outgoing Chairman of the branch, Dako Abeje Joshua, enumerated the achievements of the chapter in the last year, which he said included increased membership, and urged members to extend the support he enjoyed to the new executive members.

In her message, the Accountant-General of the Federation, Mrs Oluwatoyin Shakirat Maden, stressed the importance of a strong institution and professional body like ICAN in the development of the country and urged the new executive members to drive the chapter to the level of a district and also apply relevant professional skills for the betterment of all its members.
