Comrade Ibrahim Sirajo has been elected chairman of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) in Kaduna State.
Sirajo was elected during the 6th quadrennial, 12th state Delegate Conference and election of officials of the NUT held in Giwa Local Government Area of the state.
Sirajo took over from the outgoing chairman of the union, Comrade Bala Ado. Until his election, Sirajo was the state treasurer of the union for many.
Speaking with newsmen shortly after the election, newly elected chairman, Sirajo, said the union under his watch will prioritise the welfare of all its members and work with the state government to ensure that education, especially at primary and secondary school levels, is taken to higher standard.
“We are extending our fellowship and hands if friendship to the government so that together we can move education to the next level,” he said.
He appealed to all teachers across the state to be more dedicated to their duty, while assuring them of a vibrant leadership that will continue to protect the rights of members at all times.
