Faruk, who was deputy governor during the tenure of Abubakar Rimi, has been paralysed for over 10 years. He was deputy governor just for a year, as he was impeached in 1980.
One of his sons, Dr. Faruk BB Faruk told our correspondent that the former governor died around 12 noon yesterday.
“He was rushed to the Arewa Surgery and the doctors there pronounced him dead around 12noon,” he said.
Born in 1932, the late former deputy governor is survived by two wives and 32 children, among them is Dr. Faruk BB Faruk, Special Adviser, Protocol, Kano Government House.
His funeral prayer was said at the Kano emir’s palace and he was interred at the Kofar Mazugal burial ground in Kano metropolis.
