The Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC) is partnering with the Ibrahim Badamasi Babaginda University (IBBU), Lapai, Niger State in the research and development of raw material resources in the three states of Niger, Nasarawa and Kogi.
Already researchers from IBBU led by Professor Nuhu Obaje, Dean Faculty of Applied Sciences and Technology, have commenced work on the physical mapping and production of mining sites inventory maps in some locations across Niger State.
In an interview with journalists at a location in Mashegu Local Government Area at the weekend, IBBU Vice Chancellor, Professor Mohammed Maiturare said the institution had been identified to be at the forefront of geological research in the country in the area of hydrocarbon and solid mineral, adding that the RMRDC had been impressed by “our research outcome in the past.”
He said the research area currently covered three states but would be replicated across the country in the future.
