Ibori Club hosts maiden Nigerian Cup golf Kitty in Asaba

The Captain of the Ibori Golf and Country Club (IGCC) in Asaba, Delta State, Chief Patrick Ukah, has celebrated Nigeria’s unity and sporting spirit with the debut of the Nigerian Cup Golf Kitty. 

The event, which took place at the IGCC, was part of efforts to ensure the continuous growth of golf in the country.

Chief Ukah, who is also the immediate past Secretary to the Delta State Government under the Ifeanyi Okowa administration, commended golfers for their dedication to the sport.

He assured participants that the state would remain committed to supporting sports development.

“Whatever will sustain the unity of Nigeria is a priority,” Chief Ukah stated. 

“Through sports, our country will continue to be united. As the captain of IGCC, my team and I organized this kitty to commemorate our beloved country.

“The Nigerian Cup is a testament to our commitment to fostering unity through golf.”

Ukah further emphasized the club’s mission to raise the profile of golf in Delta State, saying, “We are constantly introducing new innovations at the club to make the Ibori Golf and Country Club the destination of choice for golfers within and outside Nigeria,” he added. 

He also assured that future editions of the Nigerian Cup would attract more golfers from across the nation, promising to make IGCC a hub for memorable golfing events.

The Vice Captain of IGCC, Mr. Alex Joe, who also chaired the organizing committee for the Nigerian Cup, hailed the event as historic. 

The tournament saw Mr. Isaac Rikoto of IGCC emerge victorious in the men’s main event, driving in 65 nett to beat Chief Patrick Ukah and Mr. Sandy Memeh.

In the ladies’ event, Rita Izoje claimed the top prize with 74 nett, ahead of Graceli Ogeli, who came in second with 79 nett.

The event climaxed with the presentation of prizes to the winners, marking a successful debut for the Nigerian Cup Golf Kitty.
