It would be recalled that a couple of weeks ago, Lakpene granted an interview accusing the former military president of being responsible for the crisis in the State House of Assembly, by paying members N100m to remove former Speaker, Mohammed Alkali, who is believed to have the sympathy of the executive governor, Dr. Mua’zu Babagida Aliyu and to cause crisis in the state.

Since then, Lakpene has remained unrepentant of his actions despite the fact that he has been suspended by the state government for speaking on behalf of the Niger state governor.

Angered by Lakpene’s attitude, Rep. Ahmed Salihu Akpa, representing Paiko constituency, moved a motion that the governor’s aide be handed over to the police for further investigation and prosecution. The motion was seconded by the House Committee chairman on justice, Rep. Ahmed Bello.

The House then directed the Clerk to hand over Lakpene to the most senior police officer attached to the House for onward transfer to the state police headquarters.
