The Ladies section of the IBB International Golf & Country Club Monday began its annual children’s golf development clinic at the lush green golf course in Abuja.
The two-week clinic, which is for children and teenagers between the ages of 5 and 18 began Monday and it is expected to be concluded on August 5, 2022.

The lady captain, Mrs Joy Ikwue, said the aim of the clinic is to train the kids to be golf champions in the future.
“We feel great and it is fun having the kids come together and practice golf. We have been doing this for over a decade and it’s chaired by the vice-lady captain. It is our desire to train these kids to be champions of golf in years to come. We hope to keep doing better year by year to develop new champions,” she said.
In the same vein, the vice-captain, Comfort Folasade Olateju said the clinic is basically to introduce them to the game but will have the opportunity to be trained by professionals in a Junior Open.
“We want to introduce the children from ages 5-18 to golf, have them feel the experience of playing golf. We want them to understand the game. Two weeks is not enough but there is a Junior Open coming up and there they will be taught more by the pros. This is just to introduce them to the game,” she said.
Seven-year-old Iro Haruna who could not contain his joy being introduced to the game said playing golf is like heaven.
“Golf gives you so much power that you don’t even know when you will play more. I thank my parents for bringing me here, this is like heaven and so refreshing playing golf. Also, I want to thank the person who built this golf club, it will be a very big honour to meet him,” he said.
