IBB golf course to witness massive growth under me – Babayo

The newly elected Captain of the IBB International Golf and Country Club, Abuja, Ibrahim A. Babayo has stated that the prestigious golf course will witness massive growth in golfing events as he takes over the reign of the club.

Speaking  while receiving the Executive members of the Bar and Bench Golf Association led by it’s Chairman, Justice Mudashiru Oniyangi, Babayo said his administration will organize golf event every month both for the Amateurs and the Pros.

Ibrahim Babayo who was elected captain during the 2024 Annual General Meeting which took place last Weekend at the Clubhouse, promises to embark on radical improvement both at the clubhouse and on the course.

“We will be committed to ensuring proper hygiene within and around the club premises. We will also enforce a zero-tolerance policy towards plastic waste, affirming our dedication to environmental stewardship. Henceforth, all members are our environmental police to ensure strict compliance with waste disposal at designated spaces, while on the course, club house or club premises.

Furthermore, we recognize the need to diversify our revenue streams beyond membership fees to enhance the quality of our infrastructure, facilities and services,” he said.

Ibrahim A Babayo got elected unopposed having served as the immediate past Vice Captain under Dr. Banjo Obaleye.

Other new Executive members who will be piloting the affairs of running the IBB International Golf and Country Club for the next one year include Vice Captain James Eromosele Agbonhese who defeated two other candidates in the race.

Former NAPTIP Chief Executive Officer, Dame Julie Donli won the Lady Captain position, as Bolarin Aliyu-Faniyan became the honourable Secretary.

Gabriel Aremu emerged as treasurer while Niyi Laoye won the House and Maintenance Officer.  Dr. Olanrewaju Phillips is now the Social and Welfare Officer, while Babatunde Aremu Ojerinde will serve as the new Course officer as Ashir Michael Tarfa emerged as Secretary.

The tenure of the new Exco will expire in April 2025.
