IBB an iconic statesman, says Reps minority caucus

The minority caucus in the House of Representatives has congratulated the former military president, Gen. Ibrahim Babangida, on his 81st birthday, describing him as an iconic statesman.

The minority leader of the house, Ndudi Elumelu, in a statement on Wednesday, said Babangida remained a detribalised leader and patriot with unswerving dedication, love and commitment towards the unity, peace, stability and development of the country.

“He is an embodiment of tolerance in the drive for national cohesion and economic progress.

“Even in his retirement, Gen. Babangida continues to play prominent roles in stabilizing the polity,” Elumelu said.

The caucus prayed to God to grant him many more years in good health as “he continues in his service to our dear fatherland and humanity at large.”
