Umar stated this in Lagos when he assured that his kind of administration would be an open door policy in which all intending stakeholders would be welcome to contribute their quota in moving the game of basketball forward from its present decadence.
He remarked that he has high task to lift the game out of the mud that it had sunk into in the last few years and such ambition cannot be achieved alone but, a collective responsibility of everybody who might want to identify with the game.
“My mission in basketball is to propagate it to higher rank among its contemporary sports in the country. To achieve this is by getting concrete and meaningful contributions from all other stakeholders across the nation. My kind of policy is not an authoritarian but purely democratic system.”, he said.
“So it is of great pleasure that our new board comprises of technocrats and those who have the heart of developing basketball from the cradle and I will run an open door administration. My doors are open for everybody to bring in tangible ideas, this is a huge task that must be fulfilled as a team”, he opined.
In addition, he emphasized that the wall of Berlin that has hitherto scared people who have genuine intention to contribute has been broken and that anybody who want to rebuild it would be castigated and not be tolerated.
Meanwhile, the President affirmed that more sponsors would be sought as the board intends to make basketball a game that would bring investors to the country through various championships outlined for all the teams as well as given adequate support to any teams representing the country in international event.
