I will personally track N24bn earmarked by FG for road in Kwara – Lawan

Senate President Ahmed Lawan on Sunday promised to personally track the N24bn earmarked for the rehabilitation of the Kishi-Kaiama road in Kwara State.

Lawan spoke in Kaiama Local Government Area of the state after he was turbaned as the Magayaki Kaiama by the Emir of Kaiama, Alhaji Muazu Shehu Omar.

Governor of Kwara State, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, bagged the title of Kaura Kaiama to “reward his developmental strides in the area”, according to the Emir who spoke through Mutawali of Kaiama, Alhaji Abdulrazaq Umar.

Speaking after the turbaning, the Senate President said “I deliberately decided to drive from Ilorin to Kaiama through Kishi-Kaiama road which I know is not good.

“On Wednesday, last week, the Federal Executive Council approved the construction of this road to the tune of over N24bn.

“I will start my work as Magayaki Kaiama by chasing for the funds available to the contractor to ensure that this road is rehabilitated….,” he added.

 While describing the honour as a tonic to do more for the area, AbdulRazaq said his administration had in less than three years constructed more asphalt roads in council than it met in the entire local government area.

The senator representing Kwara North, Sadiq Suleiman Umar was enrobed as Dan-Amar Kaiama during the ceremony, which was attended by several federal and state parliamentarians and other dignitaries from across Nigeria.
