The governor who said this when he received the council of the University of Maiduguri (UNIMAID) led by the pro-chancellor and chairman of council, Alhaji Balama Manu, said his ambition is to become an  “intellectual in the true sense’’.
“I have a Masters degree, but after the political interregnum I wish to go back and get a Phd so that one can become a true intellectual in the real sense,’’ he said.
He said though he left the University of Maiduguri where he lectured for two years for the banking sector, he is still passionate about returning to the ivory tower.
The governor said though it was in the banking sector that he made his money, he still prefers to be addressed as a former lecturer.
Shettima said the university community remains the best as it accommodates diverse ideologies.
