A renowned Islamic scholar, Sheikh Muhammad Bello Yabo, has debunked claims that he was abducted by bandits.

He said, “I heard about this rumour since last week and several people from within and out of Sokoto, as well as from abroad, have called me on the phone to confirm whether it is true that I was abducted but I kept on telling them it was rumours.

“In this era of social media, speculations of this kind are always being posted on social media platforms by some bad elements. At first, it was said that I was abducted by bandits and later it was said that I was arrested by DSS personnel.

“They are all rumours. As I am speaking with you, I am inside my house together with my family. I was neither abducted by bandits nor arrested by the DSS.”

He urged people, especially Islamic scholars, to verify information before sharing it, cautioning against the spread of misinformation.
