I’ve killed 10 persons as a cult member —suspect

A suspected cult member who was paraded by the police for allegedly murdering his victim during a robbery operation in Benin, the Edo state capital, has admitted killing 10 people.

The suspect, Moses, 24, was said to have conspired with members of his gang who are still at large to rob, kill the victim and dump his corpse into Ikpoba River.

In an interview with journalists, Joseph said last year, they were driving from Iyaro to Five Junction when they met their victim.

“We decided to hit his car from behind, and because of that, he decided to follow us with the intention of asking us to fix it,”

‘He wrestled with me’

He said they lured the victim to the Tenboga area and that was when he met them, they ordered him to surrender all that he had to them including his ATM card.

“We collected his ATM and, under duress, he told us he had N2.5m in his account.

“So, other members of my gang asked me to keep an eye on him while they go to the bank to withdraw the money.

“When my colleagues left to collect the money from his account through his ATM, he decided to wrestle with me in a bid to escape but I stabbed him and dumped his corpse in the river”.

When asked how many people he has killed as a cult member, Joseph admitted that he had killed more than 10 persons being a member of a cult group.

Another suspect

Also paraded was one Mr Otabor Frank, 50, who was alleged to have participated in burning down a police station during the #EndSARS protests in Benin City.

The Commissioner of Police, Mr Johnson Kokumo, said Otabor and one other who was at large, took a gallon of petrol and matches to the station at the popular Small Market at Dumez Road, off Sapele Road, and set it ablaze.

He warned that the police would not fold their arms and watch hoodlums have a field day.
