I took Sophia, Imade To Gov Adeleke for intervention – Dele Momodu

Dele Momodu, celebrity journalist and social commentator, has narrated the efforts he made to settle the rift between his niece, Sophia, and Afrobeat megastar, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido.

Davido had dragged Sophia to the Lagos State High Court over the custody of their daughter, Imade.

The suit marked LD/1587PMC/2024 and dated April 17, 2024, has Mr David Adedeji Adeleke as the applicant, while Ms Sophia Momodu was listed as the sole respondent.

Via the suit, the entertainer urged the court to give an order granting joint custody of Imade.

But in her response, Sophia denied the allegation, saying the music star turned his back against her and their child when she rejected his request for sexual favour.

She also asked the court not to grant Davido’s request, saying since he was married to another woman, she did not believe her child would get the best under such environment.

In a lengthy social media post on Saturday, Momodu broke his silence on the issue, narrating the role he played for peace to reign.

He narrated how he took Sophia and Imade to Davido’s uncle, Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State, for him to intervene.

“I had also taken Sophia and their daughter to my very dear friend, Governor Ademola Adeleke, seeking his intervention. To the best of my knowledge, there was never a problem of joint custody,” he said.

The Ovation boss stated that he was left confused when he found out about the legal battle on social media.

“I had seen David’s affidavit about two weeks ago and I was very surprised as David and I had spoken on a video call days earlier, with him and Pastor Tobi Adegboyega, and he never told me he had any custody issues with my niece.

“So you can imagine my confusion to find out via social media and subsequently confirmed by my niece that he had filed an action in court seeking joint custody of their daughter,” Momodu shared.
