It was learnt that Okolie was accosted in a commercial bus at Oshodi area of Lagos while on her way to deliver the baby to the buyer.

Speaking, the suspect said: “I needed the money to settle a pressing family issue since the baby’s father showed no interest in the child’s upkeep.

“It was Oge who contacted the buyer after I told her of my financial problem. She was arrested while on her way to deliver the baby

“I don’t know how much Oge negotiated with the buyer, she only told me that I will be paid N300,000 if I agree to sell my child,” the mother of the baby was said to have told a team of policemen attached to the Rapid Response Squad (RRS).

Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the arrest.
