The police in Lagos have arrested a 26-year-old lady, Maria Ahmadu, while trying to sell her two-month-old child for N300,000.
Though the buyer is currently on the run, one Oge Okolie, 25, who the police described as the intermediary, was also arrested along with the mother of the child.
It was learnt that Okolie was accosted in a commercial bus at Oshodi area of Lagos while on her way to deliver the baby to the buyer.
Speaking, the suspect said: “I needed the money to settle a pressing family issue since the baby’s father showed no interest in the child’s upkeep.
