Nigeria’s Flamingos young star, Amina Bello has said she refused to listen to her parents who wanted her to ditch her footballing career and focus only on education.
She made this known over the weekend during the FIFA Women’s World Cup trophy tour in Abuja.
The Naija Ratels player said she would trek from her house to where she would go and play football while hiding her boots in school bag pretending to be going to school.
“My parents didn’t want me to play football but my stubborn nature refused to listen to them. I told them I would go learn mechanic or tailoring if they prevented me from playing football.

“Sometimes I would trek from house to where they are playing football. Other times, I would put my boot in my bag pretending to be going to school. I am still going to school and still playing football.
“I am glad I made it to the team and represented Nigeria at the World Cup in India where we finished third. Now my parents are happy and proud of me. I will encourage other female young players not to give up on their footballing careers,” she advised.
