I once collected used clothes as payment for writing Davido’s songs – Peruzzi

Nigerian singer, Tobechukwu Okoh aka Peruzzi, has opened up about receiving used clothes as payment for his songwriting collaboration with his former boss, Davido.

In a recent interview skit maker, Isbae U’s podcast, Peruzzi was asked about reports that Davido rewarded him with previously worn clothing.

“Is it true that when you write Davido’s songs, he pays you with ‘take this up and down, na once I don wear am’?” Isbae U asked.

Peruzzi grinned and admitted that this had happened once, but stated that it was no longer the case.

He said: “I swear I am not going to lie, I used to collect clothes before. But there was a particular one I wrote and he gave me some money so I stopped but I used to, before.”

Daily Trust reports that Peruzzi is the songwriter behind most of Davido’s smash hit singles.

He began recording music after working with Rodney Malice at the age of seven.

Though his signing to Davido’s DMW was being disputed at some point, Peruzzi is a front member of the 30 Billion Gang (30BG).
