Following his release from prison, Aminu Mohammed, a final year student of the Federal University, Dutse, has apologised to the First Lady, Aisha Buhari, for “hurting” her.

Back in June, Mohammed had tweeted that Mrs Buhari was feeding ‘fat’ on poor people’s money.

The 500-level student was subsequently arrested by security operatives and arraigned before the FCT High Court No. 14.

However, the First Lady on Friday withdrew the case against Mohammed after intense pressure.

According to her prosecution counsel, Fidelis Ogbobe, the withdrawal followed the intervention of well-meaning Nigerians.

Reacting in a tweet after he was released, Mohammed said he had no intention of hurting Mrs. Buhari’s feelings.

”I would like to use this medium to express my sincere apologies to those I’ve hurt, especially our mother, Aisha Buhari. It was never my intention to hurt your feelings and insha Allah I will change for the better. However, I’m also grateful for your forgiveness, thank you mama,” he tweeted.

That was Mohammed’s first tweet after two weeks in detention. His arrest had triggered a nationwide outrage.
