A former Kogi State Governor, Capt Idris Wada (rtd), has expressed his regrets for not playing golf when he served as the governor of the Confluence State.
Speaking to our reporter at the one day Daily Trust Golf Tournament held at the 18-hole Ibom Icon Golf course, Uyo, Wada said the workload and pressure of being a governor prevented him from playing the game.
He also urged current governors and other people who work under pressure to play golf in order to improve their productivity.
“I have been playing golf for over 30 years now. It’s a challenging game as you keep working on different aspects of the game to do better.
“Honestly, when I became governor for those five years with campaign and governance, I never played golf for one second. I had so much pressure and work to do that I didn’t have time.
“I regret now and if I have the chance again, I will play golf and work at the same time. They say all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy and I urge people who work under pressure like governors to find time to play golf as it will improve their efficiency in governance,” he said.
Wada emerged the best male player in the veteran category of the tournament.
