A chieftain of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Anambra, Mr Ekene Enefe, has disclosed that he dumped the party for the APC because of Igbo presidency.
According to Enefe, his move to APC was to enable him to contribute his quota toward producing a president of Igbo extraction in 2023.
He said his entry into APC would also strengthen the base of APC in Anambra and brighten the party’s chances of taking over the Anambra government house in 2021.
Enefe, who was APGA’s candidate for Oyi/Anyamelum in the 2019 House of Representatives election, said he left APGA because it had derailed and did not serve the larger interests of the people of the South East in national politics.
In a reaction, APGA said it was not disturbed by his defection.
Tony Ifeanyi, Secretary of APGA in Anambra who is also from the same federal constituency, said Enefe’s excuses were not true as the party was the same as when he joined it in the first place.
