I joined Abia Warriors because of their ambition – Amakapabo

The new Head Coach of Abia Warriors FC, Imama Amakapabo has revealed that he joined the Umuahia Warlords because of their ambition.

He also stated that he wanted to be close to his ‘home’ in Port Harcourt which is less than two hours from Abia.

“I have been away from my home for a long time. I think I should come nearer home this time around” he said.

The 1985 Kodak U-16 World Championship gold medallist who was unveiled in Umuahia on Wednesday said his interactions with the management of the Abia warlords revealed a team that is ambitious and ready to match their words with actions which convinced him to sign a two-year deal.

The former U-23 Head Coach admired the dreams of the Abia Warriors team, saying it’s that dream that he has come to help them actualize.

“Everyone dreams. It will be foolish of myself and management of Abia Warriors if we don’t have a dream, which is exactly what we are witnessing here today.

“We know that a lot of work has to be done, don’t forget that team is one of those teams that since they came into the NPFL they have sustained their status in the elite division of the league.

“However, they have remained a middle table team. But, if they have decided to contest for the titles, considering the structures they have on the ground, there is nothing wrong with it,” he said.

Amapakabo, therefore, promised to work assiduously to lift Abia Warriors to enviable heights in the NPFL.
