Bala M

You will need a thorough and proper examination and investigation.  I can only hazard some guesses and provide to you a general overview of excessive sweating. Excessive sweating is linked it to over-activity in the sympathetic nervous system, which runs along the vertebra of the spine inside the chest cavity. Further explanation of the problem can be divided into two categories; generalized hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating) or focal hyperhidrosis. In cases with generalized hyperhidrosis, excessive sweating can appear in most parts of the body. It can happen on the face, trunk and extremities. Usually excessive sweating results due to other problems, such as:
1. Obesity
2. Febrile illnesses
3. Neoplastic disease (cancers)
4. Endocrinological disorders (thyroid glands, etc).
5. Idiopathic (unknown cause)
Another common situation that is asked about very often is the presentation of upper body sweating in elderly patients especially elderly women. This could present a unique situation where aging, hormonal changes, weight and lack of activity can contribute to this particular type of sweating.
In focal hyperhidrosis there are specific sites with excessive sweating. The most common areas of the body are the hands, armpit and feet. In these cases of focal hyperhidrosis the most likely explanation is a genetic trait. This chain controls the glands, known as the apocrine and eccrine glands, responsible for perspiration throughout the entire body. The eccrine sweat glands are mainly concentrated in the palms of the hands and soles of the feet. In most cases, the hands and feet are affected. To a lesser degree, the face and armpit (axillae) regions are affected. Another manifestation of the hyperactive sympathetic activity is facial blushing.
Sometimes people sweat heavily because of other illnesses such as:
1. Hyperthyroidism
2. psychiatric disorders
3. menopause
4. Obesity.
These causes should also be ruled out.
Excessive sweating symptoms:
Sweat can occur in many different areas on the body. Most commonly, hyperhidrosis occurs on the palms of the hands. In such cases, this condition is known as Palmar Hyperhidrosis. But hyperhidrosis is not just limited to the hands, it can also occur on the face, the soles of the feet (plantar), and in the armpits (axillae).
Hyperhidrosis is not a temporary condition. Many people who suffer from it have suffered for many years, usually since childhood. Also, whether living in a hot or cold climate, patients who experience hyperhidrosis experience constant sweating.
I need more information about Polyps?

I am diagnosed with Polyps of recent. What are causes?
Mrs Kubura

Polyps are outgrowths that protrude into the uterus and may cause pain and bleeding or prevent an embryo (product of conception) from implanting. That is the reason also for the irregular menses and heavy flow. It can be Cervical Polyps (at the lowermost part of the Uterus) or Endometrial Polyps, which is attached to the first layer of the Uterus.
Cervical Polyps are small, fragile growths that begin in either the mucosal surface of the cervix, or the end of cervical canal and protrude through the opening of the cervix. The cause of cervical polyps is not clear; however, they are often the result of an infection and many times associated with an abnormal response to increased estrogens levels or congestion of the blood vessels located in the cervix. Women most commonly affected by cervical polyps are those over the age of twenty who have had children.
While Endometrial Polyps are typically non-cancerous, growths that protrudes from the lining of the uterus. The cause of endometrial polyps is unclear, although they are often associated with an excess of estrogens following hormone treatment or some types of ovarian tumours. Treatments for endometrial polyps include hysteroscopy and D&C.
