Mustapha Sule Lamido, candidate of the People Democratic Party (PDP) for the 2023 governorship election in Jigawa State, says he has plans to build Jigawa and make it compete with any state in Nigeria.
The former governor’s son stated this in an interview with BBC Hausa service.

He said he had studied problems of Jigawa State and if elected, he would provide remedy.
“Jigawa State is battling with unemployment, economy, education, health and the likes, and this is serious because our people need to get rid of all these.
“Jigawa is our state and we are proud of it, we looked at its major problems and we are here to serve our people, if elected I will engage all stakeholders from all sectors, religious leaders and traditional rulers to ensure we find lasting solutions to our dear state”, he said.
Responding on why he contest for governorship election, Lamido said he grew up with inner passion in politics.
He said, “I come from highly politician family, I read politics related courses in my first, second and third degrees, so I know nothing more than politics, it’s what I do contributing to the development of our societies.
“I contested for Senate in 2019 general elections but I was defeated I took it in good faith, I didn’t relent in being active in the politics until our people called me to contest for governorship “.
