Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna state on Saturday said he does not care if he wins his re-election bid.
He said he is not bothered about his own election since President Muhammadu Buhari has already won re-election during the February 23 Presidential election.
The governor stated this while queuing up at his polling unit located at Marnona Road GRA, Unguwar Sarki, in Kaduna to exercise his civic duty.
He said only his staff are worried about his victory but as for him, he already knows he has a job in Abuja because of Buhari’s victory.
“I have no fears if I win or not because the president has already won his re-election. The worse thing that could happen is for me to lose the election but since the president has already won his re-election bid it, means I already have a job in Abuja.
”Only my staff are worried if I win or not. So, on the security in the state, it has improved because everything has been orderly. And from the information I’m getting, polling units are open early,” he said.
Commenting on why he joined queue, the governor said: “I always join queue because it’s the right thing to do. I mix with people all the time so it’s what I always try to do.”
On the low turnout of voters, the governor said it’s too early to judge because people are taking their time to prepare before coming out to vote.
