A business woman, Damilola Osululu, on Monday told a customary court sitting at Ile-Tuntun, Mapo, Ibadan, that she could no longer tolerate the “supremacy and domineering” attitude of her husband, Akinkunmi Osululu in the family.

Damilola said though she loved her husband and was not ready to divorce him, she didn’t quite agree with his attitude.

Osululu had filed a petition before the court to divorce Damilola, saying she was stubborn and often attacked him.

He said he was tired of inviting people to intervene in crises in the family.

The petitioner said, “She is a stubborn woman. She believes so much in her business than in the family. Whenever we are having a disagreement in the family, she will raise a sharp object against me. I usually warn her to stop it because we are not thugs. I always remind her that we don’t have money for hospital bills, so we shouldn’t engage in domestic violence. But she wouldn’t listen.

“I have reported her to her parents several times without result. In addition, she does not care for my kid as expected. She wasn’t like that during our courtship. It won’t be good for me to die at this time because I have many people I am caring for.”

Damilola responded that she still loved her husband and promised to change if the court did not hear the petitioner’s prayer.

The president of the court, Chief Henry Agbaje,  appealed to the couple to resolve the disagreement between them amicably because of the only child in their marriage, saying a three-year-old marriage was too young for divorce.

Agbaje adjourned further hearing on the matter till August 31, 2020.
