Nigeria’s Africa Cup of Nations 2013 hero, Sunday Mba has revealed that he is ready to play again in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) if he gets a good offer.
In a chat with Daily Trust, Mba said he is a free agent and he is in Nigeria while looking for a club to play for.

“I am home and looking for a club. If I have a very good offer in the NPFL, I will play. For now, I am a free agent,” he said.
He had previously played for Enyimba, Warri Wolves and Rangers in the Nigeria league, before signing for French club CA Bastia, shortly before the 2014 African Nations Championship (CHAN) in South Africa. He later joined the Turkish side, Yeni Malatyaspor in 2015 and left in 2017.
He further said the Super Eagles have not been able to win the Nations Cup because the coaches have players imposed on them while overlooking home-based players.
“I just feel that people are not carried along. It looks like we are losing out. I think the administrators need to develop grassroots football and not imposing players on the coaches.
“I just feel the coaches don’t look at the home league but focus on the foreign leagues. If you notice, the home-based players are not much in the Super Eagles. If you keep the players together for weeks, they will perform well,” he said.
Mba was the hero for Nigeria, scoring the only goal as Nigeria defeated Burkina Faso1-0 to lift the AFCON in 2013.
