Retired Brig.-Gen. John Temlong, Action Democratic Party (ADP) governorship candidate in Plateau has said that if elected, he possessed the requisite competence to tackle security challenges confronting the state.
Temlong gave the promised on Monday in Jos at a news conference in Jos.
“My security credentials make me the best qualified person at this point in the political history of Plateau.
“My experiences as a military strategist, an astute administrator and a security consultant with over 40 years of experience at the local, national and international levels make me competent for the task.
“I have a proven record of domestic conflict prevention, management and crisis prevention,” he said.
The governorship candidate assured the electorate that all displaced communities in the state would be returned to their ancestral homes with adequate security to protect them from any attacks, if given the mandate.
He stated that he was motivated to contest for the governorship of the state to restore security and sustainable peace to the area.
Temlong also said that he would provide good governance and ensure inclusive and equitable development in all parts of the state.
The governorship hopeful also promised that his administration would put the interest of Plateau people first and restore their dignity through a citizen- centered programme.
He said the progreamme would be anchored on a three-point agenda: security and sustainable peace, good governance and development.
Temlong, who hails from Langtang North Local Government Area of the state, said the Plateau was blessed with abundant mineral resources, noting that his administration would put in place policies that would yield maximum output.
The governorship candidate also said the state would generate 10 times more than its present doing in the agricultural and mining sector under his administration, if elected.
He emphasised that his administration would run a clean campaign devoid of name calling but on the basis of ideas and issues.
Temlong formally declared a public health physician, Dr Daniel Mwanmut, as his running mate. (NAN)
