The Hydroelectric Power Producing Areas Development Commission (HYPPADEC) has said it will empower 5,000 trainees of its Youth Transformation Programme (YTP) across member states.
The Chairman of the Governing Council of HYPPADEC, Joseph Ityav, stated this at the council’s 10th general meeting in Makurdi, Benue State.
He said, “On entrepreneurship and youth development, we flagged off the HYPPPADEC Youth Transformation Programme (YTP) where 5,000 youths were trained on different skills. The youths have already graduated and arrangements are being concluded to empower them with starter packs.”
Ityav, who commended the HYPPADEC Managing Director, Sadiq Yelwa, and his management team, said HYPPADEC was building resettlement houses in Niger State with similar plans for Kogi State.
On education, he said 58 blocks of classrooms with toilets had been constructed across the local government areas of the HYPPADEC states.
He further said, “The commission plans to also equip science laboratories in secondary schools with provision of solar power.
“In the health sector, we launched medical outreach in all our communities to reduce hardships faced by people in the communities.”
