The Hydroelectric Power Producing Areas Development Commission (HYPPADEC) has flagged off the construction of a drainage system and a dyke to control gully erosion in Patigi General Hospital, Kwara State.
Commissioning the project, the Managing Director of HYPPADEC, Abubakar Sadiq Yelwa, who noted that the project was of strategic importance to the commission, said lack of drainage and dykes had multiple inherent negative effects.

He said, “It results not only to flooding with its attendant negative effects, but also reverses government’s efforts, especially in terms of infrastructural development and deterioration of roads like the one at the General Hospital, Patigi.”
Yelwa, who called for proper maintenance after completion, said beneficiaries should understand that there were scarce resources competing for numerous attentions from government.
In his remarks, the Senator representing Kwara North, Umar Sadiq, said the project, when completed, would reduce the suffering of the residents and losses of their property.
