A hyena has escaped from the Jos Wildlife Park in Plateau State.
The management of the Plateau State Tourism Corporation confirmed the development in a statement obtained by our correspondent in Jos.
Daily Trust could recall that a lion which escaped from its enclosure from the park in 2015 was shot and killed by security agencies.
The statement signed by the general manager of the state’s tourism corporation, Mr Chuwang George Pwajok, informed the general public of the wild animal’s escape, assuring that efforts are on to rescue it and return it safely.

“We would like to inform the general public that the hyena which recently escaped from its cage at the Jos Wildlife Park is currently being tracked by our dedicated team of game guards and park rangers with the assistance of drone technology.
“We assure the public that we are taking all necessary measures to locate the escaped animal and ensure its safe return to its enclosure soonest,” the statement read in part.
Pwajok urged members of the public to remain calm and avoid any approach to the hyena if seen.
