The kidnappers, Daily Trust gathered, again launched an attack on the town shortly after the traditional was rescued but the attack was repelled by the hunters in an encounter that lasted for several hours.
A resident, Nuhu Tau, said the town and neighbouring villages had suffered bandits’ attacks in the past and it was a combined effort of hunters and vigilantes that dislodged bandits out of the area.
Daily Trust also gathered that soldiers had been deployed to the area to provide security.
The police spokesman in Taraba State, Usman Abdullahi, confirmed the incident, saying normalcy had returned to the area.
