Women of Gbata Community in Wamba Local Government Area of Nasarawa State have repaired a borehole in their community, Gbata.

The women were able to save from their monthly Cash Transfer stipends to repair their borehole that had stopped functioning for the water needs of the residents of the community including the primary school pupils.

The women said the gesture was to also complement government efforts in water supply and infrastructural development.

The Senior Special Assistant to Governor Abdullahi Sule on Humanitarian Services, Mr Imran Usman-Jibrin, who was invited alongside his team by the women to show them what they did with their little savings commended the women for embarking on such a humanitarian service.

Imran, who doubles as the Focal Person for the National Social Investment Programmes in the state, described the women’s gesture as impressive.

He said: “It’s really impressive; if you can save some amount from N5000 and give it back to the community.”
