The Deputy Governor of Kebbi State, Col Samaila Yombe Dabai( rtd) has said the state government has succeeded in returning normalcy to Kebbi communities where bandits have made life difficult for the people.

The deputy governor, while briefing journalists on the efforts and successes recorded by the state government in curtailing activities of bandits, in Kuitane, Ingarje and Tafkin Kada communities in  Jega local government area, said the dedication of the joint forces of the military, police, civil defence saddled with the task had paid off.

He said farmers could now go to their farms to harvest their crops and the villagers are now living in peace.

He said this was made possible by the strategies adopted by the joint forces to deal with the bandits.

He said state had also applied long term security measures and ensured security agents were permanently stationed in those routes and towns where it shares common borders with Zamfara and Sokoto states from where the bandits made incursion.

“The Commissioner of Police is heading the joint security forces and they are doing wonderfully well in ensuring that peace reign in the communities, “he said.

He said the window was opened for dialogue with the bandits if they were ready to stop their kidnapping, robbery and terrorizing the people and embrace peace.

“After all, they are our brothers and sisters. They didn’t fall from heaven and they are not aliens. They are humans like us and we live in the same society. They should come forward we will dialogue with them,”  the deputy governor said.
