The former vice-chancellor revealed that one of the strategies he adopted to protect the university at the heat of Boko Haram insurgency, was carrying all and sundry along.

Prof. Njodi said the university also sought the conventional security personnel, “like the police, DSS, army among others, which was added to the internal security of the university, to beef up the security network on campus.”

He added that he also placed the welfare of the students as a number one priority, through periodic routine and personal visits to them in their hostels, such that it endeared him to them.

He, however, gave the assurances of his commitment to promote the academic and physical development of the university, staff and student welfare, as well as sustain quality assurance of the university to enhance community relations.
