With the majority part of the country under a compulsory lockdown to prevent the further spread of COVID-19, boredom becomes inevitable.
Before the lockdown, we always bury ourselves in daily activities that requires us to interact with people and our environment.
The quest to balance staying safe, enjoying a good long day and maintaining normalcy is imperative for your physical and mental health.
Self-development is a personal responsibility; thus, you need to make it a conscious priority rather than leaving things to chance.
Here are three easy ways you can self- develop even in a lockdown.
EXERCISE
Nigerians on social media have complained of adding weight from the easy routine of sleeping too long, eating junks and feeding more than the usual, lazing in bed among others.
Exercising at home can be made fun and effective for all age. You can use yoga videos, cardio workouts, live video vlog to exercise with.
You can boost your mood with a good music and dance along for at least 30 minutes.
Learning that new dance step might come in handy after the lockdown. You never can tell! Winks!!!
That desired body size you want can be achieved too.
LEARN A NEW SKILL
Learning a new skill doesn’t always have to be difficult or boring. You can make it fun and interesting even while confined to your home.
Learn how to knit, learn about new recipes for different meals, learn how to speak and read a new language, learn makeup, learn music, learn how to write a cover letter, learn photography even with your phone, learn Microsoft packages you aren’t familiar with, learn about digital marketing and the list goes on and on.
Investing time and energy into learning some of these skills will in return add to your capacity and fight the boredom associated with the lockdown.
After the lockdown, use the skill diligently to explore open opportunities for self-fulfilment or business.
WORK ON A WEAKNESS
The idea for self-development is to make yourself better than you were before. What is that weakness you have been battling with and hoping to fix.
You can use this time and space to fix it.
You can read about, talk to someone to help out or pray about it. There are numerous books online on virtually everything you can think of. Discipline yourself and fix the weakness for a better you after the lockdown.
