God forbids shedding of innocent blood (Proverbs 6:17-19). The fourth commandment says, “Thou shalt not kill.” Exodus 20:13. Abortion is shedding the blood of an innocent child. So is kidnapping and sacrifice of children or anyone for that matter.
Cain was severely punished for shedding the blood of his brother Abel.
“Then the LORD said: Why have you done this terrible thing? You killed your own brother, and his blood flowed onto the ground. Now his blood is calling out for me to punish you. [11] And so, I’ll put you under a curse. Because you killed Abel and made his blood run out on the ground, you will never be able to farm the land again. [12] If you try to farm the land, it won’t produce anything for you. From now on, you’ll be without a home, and you’ll spend the rest of your life wandering from place to place.” Genesis 4:10-12 (CEV)
Blood cries, it cries out to God for vengeance. It cries to God to punish the offender. As you can see here, the cry of the blood of Abel attracted severe punishment. These sanctions were in response to the blood cry!
Many are suffering today because of the sin of shedding blood. Any person or persons who sheds blood is placed under a severe curse supervised by the vagabond spirit. Genesis 4:12b says, “… a fugitive and a vagabond shalt thou be in the earth.” Just look at it:
- Loss of divine presence. “And Cain went out from the presence of the LORD, and dwelt in the land of Nod, on the east of Eden.” Genesis 4:16
- Lack of focus. “He deprives the leaders of the earth of their reason; he sends them wandering through a trackless waste.” Job 12:24 (NIV) There are powers that engage people in useless pursuits and abandon them in the financial desert. These are spirits of rebellion that leave people financially dry.
- Joblessness. “…you will never be able to farm the land again.” These spirits render people jobless and idle. Such people may not even like to work. They are often unable to hold down a job when they have one. Such people survive on begging. They also find it difficult to wisely utilize any help given to them.
- Fruitless labour. “…it won’t produce anything for you.” Inability to do fruitful work (verses 11 and 12),
- Homelessness (verse 12) “From now on, you’ll be without a home…”
- Inability to settle in one place. “…you’ll spend the rest of your life wandering from place to place.” Here is how the Contemporary English Version (CEV) puts it: “But Cain had to go far from the LORD and live in the Land of Wandering, which is east of Eden.” Genesis 4:16. Cain was banished to the Land of Wandering for his atrocious act. It is not necessarily an identifiable geographic location. It is an environment of instability which a person that is cursed lives in and carries along everywhere he or she goes. Such people find it difficult to settle in a place, job, business, relationship, church or ministry. They wander from place to place in search of comfort under the influence of a vagabond spirit. This may also refer to inability to have or hold down a meaningful relationship.
- Poverty is usually a consequence. If you don’t have a job or you are doing fruitless labour, you will definitely be broke.
- Premature death. Exodus 21:14, “But if a man come presumptuously upon his neighbour, to slay him with guile; thou shalt take him from mine altar, that he may die.” It is also not uncommon to find a history of violent death in such families unless the sin has been dealt with.
- Emotional, psychological and physical health challenges. After having an abortion, the woman is subject to having miscarriages or not being able to get pregnant again. She may have painful and prolonged bleeding, and pain during her menstrual cycles. She is subjected to many cruel emotions such as paranoia and insecurity.
GETTING OUT OF THE LAND OF WANDERING
The huge question today is how to be free from the sin of blood guiltiness and reverse the curse of wandering.
Bible reading: Psalm 51:1-14
David killed Uriah and took his wife. The judgment was severe. According to the Law of Moses, he should have died, but God had mercy on him. He was rendered homeless temporarily when his own son overthrew him. He prayed the famous prayer of repentance in Psalm 51 and pleaded for forgiveness. In verse 14 he said, “Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O God, thou God of my salvation: and my tongue shall sing aloud of thy righteousness.”
Well, someone might say I’ve never killed anyone but if you have committed or aided someone to commit abortion, you have shed innocent blood. Hateful thoughts also amount to murder.
- Repent Genuinely and Plead the Blood of Jesus. There is no record of Cain ever asking God for forgiveness; had to endure the full weight of the punishment for his sins.
As we have seen in Psalm 51:14, the sin of blood-guiltiness must be repented of urgently and genuinely so that it can be washed with the blood of Jesus. Psalm 51:7, “Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.” The blood of Jesus cleanses the soul. It cleanses us from all sin. 1John 1:7, “… the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.” This will ensure that the curse is lifted and reversed. Please don’t ignore this. You may seek the help of a knowledgeable minister in this regard.
- Deliverance. Deliverance is often necessary in such cases to terminate this affliction. I believe anyone who has committed the sin of bloodshed either by killing someone or committing abortion needs to be delivered urgently from vagabond spirits so that he or she can live a fruitful, meaningful, blessed and settled life. Soul ties must be broken as a necessity.
- Call on the name of Jesus. Romans 10:13, “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” Isaiah 53:6, “All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.” God placed upon him the iniquity of us all.
Let us pray and ask the Lord to forgive and cleanse this nation from the sin of shedding of innocent blood.
You are cleansed by the blood of Jesus. I break every curse arising from blood guiltiness, in Jesus name! I release you from the influence of vagabond and wandering spirits; I bind and cast them out of your life, in Jesus name!
Your destiny will not be wasted; you will not be homeless; your children and your children’s children will not be homeless! You will possess homes and properties. The labours of your hands will be fruitful. You will prosper and flourish, in the name of Jesus!!
