The Primate of the African Church- Julius Osayande Olayinka Abbey, has said to ensure the abundance of food in our land, the government must address the problem of insecurity which affects farmers.
He declared that there is hunger in the country despite the best efforts of the Federal and State governments.
The Primate stated this in his charge at the ongoing 5th biennial and 118th conference of the African Church taking place in Lagos.
“There is no gain saying the fact that there is hunger in our land. The government at the federal and state levels are trying their best to ensure that more grains and food stuffs are released for the survival of citizens.
“However, for this to be effective and to ensure the abundance of food in our land, the government must address the problem of insecurity which prevents most farmers from going to their farms, else they are kidnapped or murdered by insurgents,”, he said.
He condemned the regular kidnap of young school children especially in the northern part of the country.
According to him, “it will be a thing of joy for government to assist our military and security personnel in their efforts to rescue all victims and re-unite them with their families as quickly as possible while they chase all kidnappers and insurgents out of our land.”
