Roe and Free with tributes to Kobe and Gianna Bryant

Martin Desmond Roe and Travon Free’s appearance on the red carpet signalled a subtle tribute to the late basketball player and his daughter, Kobe and Gianna Bryant.

The duo won best live action short for their film ‘Two Distant Strangers.’

Kobe and Gianna who died in a tragic helicopter crash in January 2020 are known for the Jersey numbers 24 and 2. Roe and Free sported bejewelled Dolce & Gabbana pins with the numbers 24 and 2.

The Los Angeles Lakers retired the number 24 as a mark of respect to the star and his daughter after their death.
