An eyewitness told Daily Trust that the people of the area woke up to see the block of the rooms on fire, saying that the cause of the inferno might be from an electrical spark.
Recounting his ordeal, a victim of the fire incident, Michael Tony said the fire burnt three of his generating sets, heavy-duty tyres, fridges and other valuables, including an unspecified amount of cash kept in the shop.
He added that the fire started around 2:00am after all the occupants of the building had closed and left for their respective houses.
The victim of the inferno stated further that neighbours raised alarm, but helpers, especially the fire servicemen in the state arrived too late to save the shops from being razed down by the fire.
The victims of the fire incident, who lamented the unexpected misfortune, appealed to the state government and public-spirited individuals to ameliorate their situation.
