The Kwara State Commissioner of Police (CP), Victor Olaiya, has explained how a 15-year-old girl, Mariam Zarumi, who was selling bread was shot dead during a robbery around the Oja Oba Roundabout.
Speaking in Ilọrin, Mr Olaiya said two suspects, Azeez Shola Lawal (Efo) and Ismail Musa (Ostence), were arrested on the strength of a complaint by Mrs Kehinde Abdulquadri Sarumi, the deceased’s mother.
He said, “While the mother was at the Oja-Oba Roundabout selling bread at her stand with her children, a group of people with masks attacked them and started shooting sporadically.
“As a result, two of her children were touched: Mariam Abdullahi Sarumi (15) died on the spot, while Abdularaheem Abdulahi Sarumi (six) sustained bullet injuries on the right hand and chest.”

He noted that the suspects confessed to the crime and would soon be charged to court.
