How robbers raided Suleja GSM shop, abandoned vehicle at Zuma rock

A gang of five armed robbers on Saturday raided a GSM shop on Morocco Road in Suleja, Niger State, and went away with expensive handsets.

A witness, Ibrahim Rufai, said the incident happened around 1pm when the robbers who came with a Peugeot car while pretending to want to buy phones.

He said, “I was coming to the shop to buy phone charger when I heard gunshots and saw passersby taking to their heels.”

When contacted, the spokesman of the police in Niger State, DSP Wasiu Abiodun, in a statement, said it was at about 1pm on Saturday when a five-man robbery gang in a Peugeot car with registration number: ABJ 467GX, attacked a GSM shop and robbed.

He said upon receipt of the information, the police gave a chase and upon getting close to a military checkpoint at Zuma Rock they abandoned their car and fled into the bush.

DSP Abiodun, however, assured that the police and military operatives were on the trail of the fleeing robbers.
