A petitioner, Suleiman Rahim, on Wednesday, narrated how he was allegedly shot on the neck by one Corporal Sunday David of Elere police station Agege, while returning home on a motorcycle (Okada) from Agege stadium after watching a football match in 2016.
The petitioner, Rahim, told the retired Justice Doris Okuwobi-led Lagos Judicial panel that Corporal David shot him without any interrogation after he stopped his motorcycle rider.
The petitioner, who said he has been walking with the help of a walking frame after surgery at the Faith Specialist Hospital, Ogun State, pulled off his shirt and showed the panel how the cartridge from the gun penetrated his neck and pierced through his back.
He said, “after my family reported the case to the Elere police station, they have been taking me from one hospital to the other.
Rahim also presented some of his medical bills, including the N1.8m he spent on surgery at the Faith Specialist Hospital, Ogun State.
“We have been hearing that the corporal is no more and some are saying that he is still living,” he replied the panel when he was asked whether he knew the policeman’s whereabouts.
The panel told the counsel for the Nigerian police to investigate the whereabouts of the corporal David while it adjourned the case to January 27.
