How police nabbed 18-year-old female student who worked as bandits’ informant

An 18-year-old female student of the Niger State College of Health Sciences, Kontagora, the Headquarters of Kontagora LGA of Niger State, Zubaida Sanusi, is currently being held in police custody for allegedly working as an informant for bandits.

The Commissioner of Police in the state, Shawulu Ebenezer Danmamman, who revealed that said the student was arrested following the arrest of a 37-year- old notorious bandit, Umar Aliyu, aka Babuga Datijo.

He  said during investigation, one of the wanted bandits, Shaibu Haruna, was found in the girl’s phone and the number was saved as ‘Kudin-banza’ (useless money).

He said the girl had confessed that she was introduced to Shaibu by a woman known as Aisha Mohammed, adding that Shaibu used to lavish  money on her in exchange for sex.

The police commissioner said efforts to get other members of Aliyu’s gang arrested led to the discovery of a phone number in Kontagora belonging to the suspected student.

He said phone numbers of two members of the gang, Maidabo and Shaibu Haruna of Garatu, Bosso LGA were provided to the police by the gang leader.

He said one Motse Mohammed (47) and Aliya Mohammed (48), residents of Salka, Magama LGA were also arrested for having contacted the bandits and acted as informants in a series of attacks.

He said the police established that ten thousand naira was sent to the two informants by the bandits through one POS in Salka.
