How police bust serial killer hideout in Rivers

Residents of Igbo-Etche community in Etche Local Government Area of Rivers State were shocked when the anti-kidnapping unit of the state Police Command busted the hideout of a notorious serial killer and kidnapper, Anthony Ndubuisi.

The command’s anti-kidnapping unit led by the Commissioner of Police invaded the hideout of the suspect and arrested him.

The suspect, who claimed to be a shoemaker, allegedly confessed to specialising in abducting and killing victims in Igbo-Etche, Etche Local Government Area of the state.

The suspect, who deals on second-hand shoes, was paraded before journalists in his home at Igbo-Etche on Tuesday.

He confessed that he lured his victims to his house supposedly to supply him second hand shoes.

Ndubuisi further confessed that he had abducted and killed four of his victims, including a Niger Republic citizen, since he started his ugly trade in February.

His method of operation included drugging his victims before strangling them.

The suspect, who showed journalists the suck-away pit he disposed of his victims, said they are mostly his second-hand shoe clients who supplied him with the shoes to sell.

“I am a shoemaker. I stay in Garrison with my wife and children. My wife is not aware of what I do. I stay in this house alone (in Igbo-Etche).

“I started killing this February. I have kidnapped and killed four since I started. I kill them by holding them on their neck after drugging them. I tell them I want shoes to sell and they bring it,” he said.

The suspect blamed his action on poverty and hunger.

Earlier, Rivers State Commissioner of Police, Mukan Joseph, who paraded the suspect before journalists said Ndubuisi was arrested through discreet and technological tracking using the handset of his last victim.

A resident of the community who simply gave his name as Nwoke said the suspect concealed his criminal activities in his fenced compound.
