How over 100 applicants admitted into Niger fake college paid N78,000 each

The police in Niger State have arrested a 23-year-old man, Daniel Ishaya, of Gurmana in Shiroro Local Government Area (LGA) for operating an illegal College of Health Sciences and Technology.

City & Crime learnt that over 100 applicants admitted into the college paid N78,000 each for registration.

Arrested alongside Ishaya is the director of the college, 28-year-old Francis Ede from Enugu State.

The command’s spokesman, DSP Wasiu Abiodun, in a statement, said the suspects were arrested on September 8 after a tip-off.

The statement reads in part: “The two persons were suspected of establishing and operating a fake school known as Excellence College of Health Sciences and Technology located in Maikunkele area of Bosso LGA.”

Abiodun further said that during interrogation, the proprietor of the college, Daniel Ishaya, confessed to have established the college in 2020 with forged documents and that it commenced admission in 2021.

He further told the police that about 100 applicants had so far enrolled in the college with each paying N78,000 as tuition fee and other charges,

The police said Francis Ede was the director of the college working with about 20 lecturers.
