‘How my daughter was lured for rape with egg, rice’

The father of a six-year-old girl who was allegedly raped in Egor Local government Area of Edo State, Okehelem Palace Oyenma, has called on the police to ensure justice for his daughter.

It was gathered that the minor was allegedly raped by one Destiny Obiyan on July 4, at Edobor Street, off Uwelu quarters in Egor Local government Area.

Speaking with journalists on Monday in Benin City during a protest march to the secretariat of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Edo State Council, Oyenma alleged that Obiyan lured his six-year-old daughter with rice and egg and defiled her.

He said he got to know of it when he noticed that the minor was bleeding profusely from her private part.

“He (Obiyan) took my daughter through the backyard to his house, bought her rice and egg.

“My daughter told me that after feeding her, he pulled her pant, put his fingers and thereafter, inserted his penis.”.

He said on the night of the incident they searched for her with the assistance of vigilantes but couldn’t find her, not knowing that she was with Obiyan in his house.

“When we found her and discovered she was bleeding, we asked her to take us to the house of the rapist that night but she said she can’t locate the house that night.

“So the following day, I asked her to take her mother to the rapist’s house while I went to the police station to report.

“So when I and the police got to the Obiyan’s house, we met him and his native doctor with his charms inside his parlour.

He said on the floor of the parlour, a handkerchief stained with blood while some charms were on display on the floor too. The police then arrested the boy and the native doctor.

“The test results from the police clinic and from the government hospital have shown that there were penetrations,” said the father.

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP, Chidi Nwanbuzor, who confirmed the incident said the matter was already in the court.
