Anambra-born businessman, Obi Iyiegbu, popularly known as Obi Cubana, has narrated his experience while on his way to the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, for his convocation in 1999.

In a Facebook post on Wednesday night, he shared a photo of himself, while narrating how he used a ‘night bus’ to travel from Abuja to Nssuka for the convocation.

He wrote “1999, we were going to University of Nigeria Nsukka for our convocation ceremony from Abuja, in the company of some of my friends and classmates; Nze, Ultimate, Onwa, Ogali, etc!!! We entered a bus from Area 1 Garki Abuja to Dumez, near Suleja so we could enter the cheaper “night bus” instead of boarding from Jabi Park!

“We got tickets for Mercedes Benz 1414 commuter vehicle, attachment! My Uncle, Zubby, bought me a pair of ‘schools’ shoes, having made him proud by making a 2:1 in the political science department! Inside the 1414 Benz bus, there was zero comfort, especially with the ‘attachment’!”(sic)

While narrating his experience, Obi Cubana noted that during the trip that lasted for hours, they dared not dose off or rest their head, shoulder on anyone that paid for a ‘full seat’.

Obi Cubana said, “You dare not sleep because if you happened to rest your head on the shoulder of a trader that had “full seat”…..na slap or punch, depending on mindset!!”(sic)

The businessman further revealed that he later misplaced one leg of the pair of the shoe his uncle gifted him and that almost ruined his convocation.

“We managed to get to Obollo Afor in the morning, where we would now take a bus into Nsukka. Getting to where we contributed money to stay for the entire convocation, I realised I lost one leg of the pair of my adored and priceless ‘schooles shoes.’

“It almost ruined my convocation!!! But today, here we are!!! Do people still enter “night bus”? Las las, this generation dey enjoy!!!”(sic)
