How Kano poly rector survived fake certs allegation

Professor Al-Hassan failed to provide the original copies of his credentials to the visitation panel set up by the state government to look into the activities of the institution, a situation that stirred up debate about his qualification.
Our correspondent gathered that, the rector has since taken the original copies of his credentials to the state governor. Daily Trust learnt that the governor directed the rector to present them to the Ministry for Higher Education for documentation.
“The issue of the rector having fake credentials is over now because he has since presented original copies of his credentials to the state governor, the committee set up to look into the activities of the institution and other relevant stakeholders,”  a government source said.
Our correspondent reports that before the rector presented the original copies of his credentials, the issue of his doubtful qualification almost dented his image as it dominated public discourse in the state.
Some weeks ago, the visitation panel headed by the former deputy governor of the state, Engineer Abdullahi T. Muhammad Gwarzo had while submitting its report to the state governor, Engineer Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, raised alarm over the qualification of the rector.
Professor Al-Hassan was invited from the US by the governor in his bid to turn around the institution. Al-Hassan returned to the country in December, 2012 to take up the appointment after spending three decades in the US where he claimed to have obtained first degree, masters, PhD and professorship.
